Kicking off the winter shoemaking season with two sections of the beginner shoemaking course. Choose Saturdays or Wednesdays!!
Handmade shoemaking classes begin January 14 in West Asheville, two miles from downtown. Course teaches each student how to make themselves a pair of custom leather shoes from scratch. Skills include pattern making, skiving, punching and broguing, dyes and dye waxes, sewing, carving an insole, lasting, installing a shank, soling, heel stacking and pegging.
Each class time lasts four hours and runs for ten lessons. Classes held noon-4 pm. Additional class times available.
